Proper wheel installation ensures safety and optimal performance.

Disc Brake Wheels

  1. Slide the wheel into the fork/frame dropouts
  2. Align the disc rotor with the brake caliper
  3. Tighten the thru-axle to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically 12-15 Nm)
  4. Spin the wheel to check for brake rub — adjust caliper if needed
  5. Check that the wheel is centered in the frame

Rim Brake Wheels

  1. Open the brake quick-release
  2. Slide the wheel into the dropouts
  3. Tighten the quick-release skewer or thru-axle
  4. Close the brake quick-release
  5. Check wheel alignment and brake pad contact
